Job Title: Data Center Technician I
Location: Onsite, Umatilla, OR
Duration: 6 Months with potential for extension and conversion
Pay Rate: $28.33/hr.

Shift Schedule:

Days: Sun-Wed Early: 06:00 - 16:30, Late: 07:30 - 18:00
Front Nights: Sun-Tues, 17:45 - 06:15 Alternating Wednesdays
Back Days: Wed-Sat Early: 06:00 - 16:30, Late: 07:30 - 18:00
Back Nights: Alternating Wednesdays, Thurs-Sat, 17:45 - 06:15

As a Team Data Center Technician, you play a crucial role as the primary resolver within your support team, adept at troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware infrastructure issues. Your responsibilities include maintaining comprehensive documentation on supported technologies, transferring knowledge effectively to junior staff, and engaging in basic to intermediate system administration tasks, potentially within a remote team setup. You possess the ability to automate tasks through scripting, execute small projects independently, and collaborate with management on larger initiatives. Your autonomy in issue resolution is complemented by your role as the initial escalation point for junior technicians, demonstrating proficiency in all aspects of supported equipment and the capacity for independent decision-making while remaining receptive to guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary resolver for support team members, working autonomously to address most support issues.
  • Conduct break-fix duties for DCO (Data Center Operations).
  • Demonstrate expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware infrastructure issues.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation on supported technologies, facilitating knowledge transfer to junior staff.
  • Possess basic to intermediate system administration skills and undertake remote system administration tasks as required, collaborating within a virtual team framework.
  • Utilize scripting to automate tasks when necessary.
  • Independently execute small projects and collaborate with management on larger local projects.
  • Act as the initial escalation point for junior technicians, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of all aspects of supported equipment, demonstrating the ability to innovate and make independent decisions while remaining attentive to detail.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum 1+ years of experience in computer/desktop hardware or equivalent hardware-related roles.
  • Proficiency in break-fix duties for Data Center Operations (DCO).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex hardware infrastructure issues.
  • Experience creating and maintaining documentation for supported technologies, with the capability to effectively impart knowledge to junior staff.
  • Basic to intermediate system administration skills, including the capacity to undertake remote administration tasks within a virtual team environment.
  • Ability to automate tasks using scripts when necessary.
  • Track record of independently executing small projects and collaborating on larger initiatives with management.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as the initial escalation point for junior technicians, offering guidance and support.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of supported equipment, coupled with the ability to make independent decisions while adhering to detailed instructions.
